Hi and welcome!

Due to having more and more flocked and filtered posts on my LJ, I decided to post a general welcome post here so you'll know what to expect (and so I'll know who actually wants to read my LJ, so there you go *g*).

Fandom

As my current fandom (for three years now, geez!) is football RPS, more specifically German football RPS, I've got a footie filter set up for my related squeeings, slashy posts and (from time to time) drabbles. The ratio of footie!posts to RL posts is something like 2-1 or 3-1, so if you want to share in the fun - which will mostly revolve around new tidings/ficlets/squeeings about my OTPs (*points to icon*), my favorite clubs and the Bundesliga in general, also the Nationalmannschaft - just comment here saying that you want to be in the filter, so that I can add you asap.

General

The more private RL entries are flocked, as are other fandom squeeings (I'm also in a number of obscure random German fandoms and have written some ficcage for Sommersturm or Napola and will write more, also for other muchly underappreciated German movies...) and other things that I can't remember off the head. *smiles* If you are interested in reading about these things, feel free to comment here, either. :-)

You can find out more about me in the userinfo, feel free to snoop around there!

Cheers,

I love writing banter. *giggles* [Jul. 26th, 2008|12:36 am]
From my newest Ollian fic, 'Just Dancing With You':

"So the whole gay sex deal just came, what, naturally to you?" Gregor raised his eyebrows defiantly at Christian.

"Uh..."

"Come on, it isn't like you never begged me for pointers as to how to kiss a girl. And I very distinctly remember a conversation from way back when I explained to you that you always, always go down on a woman first, get her relaxed and wet, and -"

Christian hoped his brother wouldn't lick his hand again. "Shut up!" he hissed, feeling his cheeks heat up. "Man, what is it with you and my sex life?"

"Mmmph." Gregor's eyes were twinkling, and his big brother was really a big ass. Christian rolled his eyes and lifted his hand. "Just how drunk are you, again?"

"Drunk enough to pester you about your apparently fab-u-lous gay sex life, brother dearest!" Gregor laughed and Christian groaned. Yep, he was pretty drunk.

I wrote about three more pages, making it come to about seven, and what with the NC-17 stuff still following and then some more Ollian+Gregor stuff, it'll be my longest Ollian fic. Squeee!

*This* is why I love 'Verbotene Liebe'... [Jul. 24th, 2008|09:39 pm]
A lot of hullaboo has been made about the fact that Olli would lie down in rush-hour traffic for Christian, and he's been painted (more or less accurately) as a giant big woobie when it comes to his one twu wuv.

Well, this is proof that Christian has it about as bad for Olli:

Photobucket

The look! The look! The... aw, Christian. I should just insert giant big red ♥ into his eyes, seeing as that would be less obvious. *g* But, really! Have you ever seen such a schmoopy look? And he's not even looking into Olli's beautiful eyes! It's a look that says, "You're the most awesome guy ever and I love you like I wouldn't ever believe, and I would do just about anything for you because you get me 100% and just how awesome are you again? *detours to last NC-17 rated night activities...*" :-)

Random: WDR love. [Jul. 15th, 2008|11:00 pm]
For those who are not in the know, WDR = Westdeutscher Rundfunk. Aka one of the regional channels of the ARD (Allgemeiner Rundfunk Deutschland), and yes, it covers most of West Germany, to be more accurate, Northrhine-Westphalia (NRW) - my home federal state. ♥

But why do I love the WDR? Well, they are awesome with subtitling (I just watched six different programs on the WDR starting from 8pm until now, and every one is subtitled! It almost feels like I'm in the US with Closed Captioning around the clock. *g*) The WDR is now no. 1 amongst the regional ARD channels when it comes to subtitling, even doing more than Das Erste (the original ARD channel) itself (23,000 minutes compared to the Das Erste's 11,000 minutes per year).

And they also have webTV, which has many different news reportages and Quarks & Co., a science magazine (my favorite, which has also my favorite moderator besides Kloppo - much love for Ranga Yogeshwar) that explains/explores different topics every week, that get interpreted into sign language:

Click to see a screenshot of webTV with Quarks & Co.! )

As far as I know, they're the only German channel that does something like that. For that alone, I ♥ the WDR so much. And that's why I just sent them a complimentary email, thanking them for their trouble to subtitle so many programs. Mwah. ♥

Okay, random much? Well - I'll write about whatever I want to, this is my LJ after all! *g* And thus, I present you a hilarious deaf German-Turkish comedian who was at the European Deaf Erotic Party 2008 in Milan (yes, we have Erotic parties, what did you think? *g*) and told this story:

I literally laughed tears at this one! And - it's rather graphic later on (he keeps his clothes on, though), so if you're at work or something like that, watch it later, mmkay? ;-) (Though I've seen way worse - or better, depending on your POV! *g*)

Deaf post. With a lot of deafness. [Jul. 1st, 2008|09:05 am]
Yep, so y'all do know that I'm deaf? I do hope very much so, because otherwise you didn't read my LJ at all. *winks*

Anyway! I heart sign language most of all, and there's some fucking amazing stuff on youtube in sign language. Like this guy (I tell you, I'm so close on crushing on him, and [info]deafcarol, do you by any chance know him? *g*) who signs music videos and the two he did so far are just amazing! It's American Sign Language, not German Sign Language, though.

st0rmfx signs 'Crazy' by Gnarls Barkley and 'New Shit' by Marilyn Manson (and by the way, that's st0rmfx dressed up as Manson, not the real deal himself!) )

And here's a beautiful signing of the 'Vaterunser', the Lord's Prayer, in German Sign Language:

Oh, and this reminds me of a particularly interesting incident at uni:

German sign for balls, scrotum, nuts, whatever. I did say that sign language is very, er, realistic. And no, I'm not gonna sign 'penis' or 'erection' or 'fellatio' or 'cunnilingus', because... duh. Don't even get me started on rimming or teabagging. Er. (It takes a very, very brave guy to sign about sex onstage, that's all I'm saying. *g*)

Anyway, the incident! The setting was a seminar about gender identity )

Sign language. Rocks. 'Nuff said. :-)

(Expect a vid of me sometime later! *winks*)

Now you see just why I have fallen hard for Verbotene Liebe despite the ARD never subtitling it at all. *grins* Watching Jo and Thore act their precious hearts out as Olli and Christian is so totally worth it.

And yes, I've just written a 1,800 word Ollian fic. Anyone here willing to beta it so I can put it up later this evening? I'll just say that it has a rather, er, interesting perspective... ;-)

[info]thelana has volunteered for beta duty. Yay! *smiles*

And now the fic is up: Blurred Lines, Ollian and NC-17 with Gregor POV - enjoy! ;-)

I just killed a gnat with Dostoyevsky. Yay! XD

/this random post was brought to you by a gnat-hating [info]ninamalfoy at 1 am

And because I fell in love with this meme from the lovely [info]niamh_x, I gacked it:

Post, in comments, something that reminds you of home. It doesn't matter if 'home' is where you are now, or where you're from - it's whatever feels like home to you.

Post anything - pictures, songs, links, fic, poetry, prose, recipes, the local weather forecast, an example of language or local dialect, anything you like as long as it's about 'home' :-)

Watching footie on TV and wanting Spain to score and win, damnit!

ETA: 3-0 against Russia, and wheee! Awesome goals, and now I'm thinking, 'OMG Germany...' But if we play like we did against Portugal, I'm optimistic enough. :-) *knocks on wood*

Apart from that, I've done the book meme that I saw at [info]betsyli some time ago, and here it is:

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.

2) Italicize those you intend to read.

3) Underline the books you LOVE.

4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them

*snorts* If I counted rightly, I've read more than half the books on that list. Heh. Seems like my honorary title of 'bookworm' and 'Leseratte' (reading rat in German *g*) are pretty deserved. ;-)

I just phoned my mom! *twirls*

There's a German relay service for deaf people, TESS (in German) and I finally bit the bullet and registered myself there - have to pay 5€ basic fee and there'll be additional costs for every call I make. Awesomeness so far, and seeing as I can't call her yet via webcam and sign language interpreters (something to do with the browser), I did so by a kind of chat service, and it was so fun to realize just how many 'äh' and 'ähms' people really use as filler words. *laughs*

Next - my dad. *cackles and rubs hands*

Memeage! [Jun. 5th, 2008|09:50 pm]
[Tags|, ]

The interview meme, and I want to be a sheep, so I let the lovely [info]abbichicken ask me five questions:

1. On a bad day, what film can make you smile?

Mh... now I realize that most of my DVD movies are thrillers or somesuch, not very fitting to make me smile (save if they've got awesome dialogue). *laughs* But, well, '10 Things I Hate About You' I can safely count to my feelgood movies (♥ Heath) and 'Sense and Sensibility', too.

2. What's the best thing to drink on a summer's evening?

Apple spritzer with lots of ice cubes and a squirt of lemon. Or, if you're talking alcohol, Becks Gold. I'm pretty much a purist when it comes to drinks. :-)

3. What are you most proud of?

Difficult question... the heaps of luck I've had so far in my life? Nah. Well, I'd say it would be never giving up on life. There's still so much I want to do, damnit!

4. What would you most like to do in the next five years?

Going abroad for a longer span of time than just some weeks. Or, finally getting a boyfriend/partner. *wry grin*

5. What's your most evocative childhood memory?

So many to choose from... I'd say sitting on the edge of a fountain with my brother next to me, wearing waterproof sandals and splashing my feet in the cool water - I was three at the time and in Monaco with my family. One of my earliest memories. :-)

Anyone wanna take part in this meme, just comment so I can ask you five questions. :-)

Bukkaking all over yourself when you open a bottle of mineral water is a pretty effective way to cool yourself down... *snickers* And now I'm off to watch the specials on the DVDs of the 1st season of Supernatural (which is finally with subtitles, yay!) and aw, when I ordered Queer As Folk 2, I also got a QaF poster with the shipment. Wheee! XD

... well, now I can say what it feels like to be caught in a hailstorm/monsoon in the garden wrapped only in a pareo and nothing else underneath save for a slip while trying to get the soaked-through bed linens back into the house.

And the best? I could've waited just five more minutes and would have been only marginally wet instead of being wetter than wet. Fluids of any variety obviously have some score to settle with me, it seems.

ETA: *facepalms* I was being nice and exchanged messages with the aforementioned obnoxious guy whom we'll call Tommy Steel, which is a pretty good approximation of his real name, and he rambled about being out of work and searching work and missing his daughter (that seems like the standard for deaf Cologne area guys, really, having kids out of wedlock before they turn 25 or so) and said that he hates the heat and gays.

Gays? I reply with, "well, my best friend's gay, and hey, tastes are different, blah blah" while rolling my eyes and thinking 'figures, a jock and idiot and homophobe, awesome...'

Turns out he just meant the sticky/muggy weather which is Schwüle in German, whereas gays are Schwule. *laughs* Okay, no homophobe there, thanks, Tommy Steel. Would probably be difficult, too, living in the gayest city in Germany. The idiot bit, well... he lives in Bergheim. Bergheim. That's where Poldi hails from, in case you had forgotten... *snickers*

ETA2: ... AHAHAHAHAHA. A guy I knew from school and who's one of the numerous ex-boyfriends of my best friend is on gl-sh.de, too! Awww, Michael. *giggles*

And I'm not sure what it says about the men on there that a 18-year-old guy and a 44-year-old guy both messaged me at the same time. Talk about age differences or is the female pool just too shallow? Doesn't look like that to me, to be honest. *is confused*

*randomly hearts Thekla Carola Wied*

"Ich hätte gern ein Taxi. Für mich und ein Schwein."

('I'd like a cab. For me and a pig.')

ETA: I'm watching a German TV movie, for those thinking that I'm crazy now. And a question to the other Germans on the flist - did you ever see the German flag, the Europa flag and the federal flag of Berlin in a row in a director's room?? *blinks*

... the movie is so cute. *squees* Thekla Carola Wied rocks as the secret footie fan and teacher. Aw.

ETA2: BWAHAHAHA. Frau Winter (T.C. Wied) is known as a way too strict teacher and everyone fears her. Case in point, some dialogue as she gets knocked out by a student by accident at a training match:

Anton (to Max): Mann, du hast die Winter umgenietet. - Man, you knocked Ms Winter out.
Paul (to Max): Wie schnell kannst du rennen? - How fast can you run?

ETA3: Okay, I was quite obscure in what this movie's actually about. So, it features Thekla Carola Wied as a way too strict teacher who secretly loves footie and when the P.E. teacher gets injured when teaching, she suddenly becomes the coach of the team because no one else knows enough about footie - although it was only because the headmaster of the school doesn't like her and is just waiting for her to fail. Well, after some obstacles and not-obstacles (like the janitor who's secretly in love with her helping her) the movie ends happily with her winning the Cup with her boys who now all love her (not in the May-December way, mind).

It's my journal, and I heart the BVB, which means I don't heart Bayern as much, so: [May. 1st, 2008|10:40 pm]
[Tags|]

Sorry, but I just - oh, Bayern. *snickers a little bit* At first Hoeneß scoffs at the UEFA Cup, because oy, they missed the CL, and now they so totally get deconstructed like that? I can't help the schadenfreude, really.

*snickers again*

Anyway! I plied myself with white wine. Good white wine, even. And what came out of it? A drunken love rant about Germany's cities (very subjective and copypasted from my comment on [info]cerulean_eyes post here (which is flocked, but if you are on her flist, go read because it's one of the most fitting descriptions of Berlin I've ever read...):

This proud decay - so typical of Berlin, oh yes. *nods* It's like a grand old lady, powdered heavily but there are cracks and she knows, but scoffs at it, knowing that her grandeur of olden times will dazzle anyone who looks too closely at her, imagining her in her golden times. She mingles effortlessly with the youth, her deep bellowing laugh at their reckless jokes reverberating through the wet streets, a diva beloved and adored, fallen on hard times but still standing, adapting to the new times with a certain laissez-faire that no one can copy.

Compared to that, Hamburg's a coiffed matron, blonde and blue-eyed and botoxed and whatever else (to hide the destruction of past times), showing off her riches, hiding her not-so-elegant past behind lavish clothes and jewelry but slipping up into Missingsch1 whenever she's not careful of the way she speaks. But when she's plied with too much grog or rum, she'll swear with the worst sailors and roughest whores, her décolleté heaving as she laughs, holding her gloved hand in front of her red gleaming mouth. That's Hamburg for you, the icy elegance of a Narcissa Malfoy the thin veneer of a saucy wench...

Oh, and Cologne. ♥ Cologne is showing her age proudly, as opposed to Hamburg, she's everyone's girlfriend, the (dyed) blonde with the crinkles around the deep blue eyes, giggling as she holds onto your arm, wearing a rather revealing dress that shows off the exquisite golden crucifix dangling around her neck, and in the next moment she has taken off her white sandals and is walking-dancing along the Rhine shore barefoot, laughing at life and sending up a big kiss to the old man watching from up there, because she knows how to pay respect even if it may not look like it. Cologne likes to surround herself with men, flirting outrageously even if they're totally gay - hey, it's Cologne, you don't say no to her, and so everyone walks away smiling with big red lipstick kisses on their cheeks, waving back at her as she drags you along to the bars...

1The Hamburgian dialect

My evening ends perfectly. A new chapter of Special Forces is up! Wheeee! *hearts Marquesate and Vashtan so very much*

Sitting in the uni library, oh so exciting... [Apr. 28th, 2008|01:35 pm]
[Tags|, , ]

First sunburn of the year? Check. (Yes, evilness. On Saturday! *shakes her fist*)

Other than that, was a bit busy with organizing things for the sign language project I'm working on - met a deaf woman from Russia (living in Hamburg since 10 years now), got an invitation to a bowling meet-up of deaf Russians living in Hamburg - have now been practising fingerspelling my first name in Russian (yes, the Russians have a different fingerspelling alphabet, which leads to weird contortions of my fingers) - and I will also have to deflect x questions in the vein of 'Oh, are you from Russia, too? Because your name...' *snorts* At least that should also come in handy when I'm going to meet up with deaf Poles (my prof wants to have deaf Russians and Poles in his group for research, too), because hey, I've got a Russian first name and a Polish last name - awesome combo, no? *g*

Other than that, things are fairly okay. Seminar starts in half a hour, should be good, and my interpreters are love. Life is good. I relaxed in the city park yesterday with Louisa (and wore terribly impractical sandals, which led me to ditching them halfway through and walking around barefoot (and also riding the bike back home in that state) - surprisingly comfortable. My feet really got a good workout yesterday while I endured the people around me staring at them. *g*

Deaf RL. [Apr. 26th, 2008|09:38 pm]
[Tags|, ]

I'm now quite addicted to Wer kennt wen (Who knows whom), where lots of deaf people are. Seeing as I'm not really that active in the deaf community, it's not surprising that I don't know that much people, only about 140 - my flatmate knows double the people I know, but there's always a huge overlap, seeing as we went to the same schools. *g* The insanely popular deaf people know around 400-500 people, by the way. It's so lovely to see so many old school chums again - the deaf world is so tiny, really! Which also leads to being friended by a Turkish guy you once snogged for hours on a party years ago, for example. *snickers* Aw, Murat. (He's engaged now, so no worries. But these were good times...) But apart from that you meet people on there you've lost all contact to and it's all 'Squee! *hearts*', which is awesome!

And the niftiest feature of WKW is in my opinion this map (which only shows a selection of the people you've got friended, not everyone - I think there are only 50 or so on there):

You can see where I have the most friends in the deaf world - in North-Rhine Westphalia where I hail from and where I went to school. The good old times... *sighs wistfully*

Other than that, the youth meeting of the deaf youth club went surprisingly well, so squee! I'm now re-elected as treasurer for the next two years. Now I can look forward to two more years of the same headdesking I went through this week... yay? *snorts* Eh, well. At least there's lots of awesome things we're gonna organize this year, so that's at least a plus. And the guys aren't that ugly. *g*

And! I also got my first sunburn of the year! I know, my skin burns ridiculously easy (thanks for your crappy genes, Dad), but what can I do? *le sigh*

I come bringing an Ollian drabble! :-) [Apr. 24th, 2008|01:10 pm]

Title: Reflections
Pairing: ... duh.
Rating: hard R, probably.
Disclaimer: I'm not making any money with this, it's just a figment of wishful imagination.
Notes: Unbeta-ed, 100 words, set anytime after April 4th.

Olli was a big snuggler. It didn't surprise Christian in the least.

And what's more, he was comfortable with it. Comfortable with having someone who didn't need to be protected, wrapped around him, snoring slightly. Olli was all hard lines and planes and hidden curves, sinewy strength equal to his own. Stubble that scratched over the skin of his chest, long legs intertwined with his own, the half-hard cock resting against his hip.

It was what Christian had never allowed himself to dream of.

"Don't strain your brain," Olli mumbled sleepily, edging closer.

Christian smiled and closed his eyes.
